Oklahoma has long been interrelated with Bingo. That’s because the American Indian bands of Oklahoma have operated Bingo games for generations. Patrons from many of the nearby states pile in passenger cars and head over to Oklahoma to bet on Bingo on the weekends.

The 1988 Indian Gaming Regulatory Act became law after a precedent setting decree by The U.S. Supreme Court just the prior year. Since that instance, 23 of the thirty nine Native tribes located in Oklahoma have established gambling halls. The Chickasaw were the 1st Oklahoma Native band to take advantage of the betting restrictions, and at this time operate ten casinos of their own. Bingo was the game on which the above-mentioned casinos were built on. Electronic games like slot machines weren’t approved, because they’re believed to contribute to gambling addiction more than bingo.

In recent years, Oklahoma governing edicts have altered to permit big Indian wagering casinos. You’ll now see American Indian gambling dens with slots, video poker and 21 tables. Craps and roulette are not yet authorized in the Native casinos as of yet, although this is just a waiting game. No one can say with whether having other games in the bingo houses will do for the appeal of bingo.
